I cannot post too much about the specific case that I have been called to give evidence on, but suffice too say it is, in my opinion, likely to lead to a nurse getting struck off.
I do question the location of the NMC in London - I still think that the organisation would be better served if located in the geographical centre of the UK - Birmingham would be easier for many to travel to, and would be a lot cheaper to rent/buy property - and all those expensive central London buildings could be sold off...
My feelings about being in a hearing again are very mixed - under a nurse's duty of care we are obliged to do all that we can to support and care our patients. However, do wonder how many times we have nurses being put into difficult positions by non clinical managers. I think that if we as clinicians are bound by a code of professional conduct, it seems remiss to me that our managers are not governed by the same policy.
So, I am sitting in an office in London, waiting to give evidence... I will update on my thoughts after I have given evidence
