Attending an NMC hearing

Several years ago I was involved, personally, in a fitness to practises hearing. I got through that with the support and care of Val, and being here today reminds me of just how much I appreciated that support both then and now.

I cannot post too much about the specific case that I have been called to give evidence on, but suffice too say it is, in my opinion, likely to lead to a nurse getting struck off.

I do question the location of the NMC in London - I still think that the organisation would be better served if located in the geographical centre of the UK - Birmingham would be easier for many to travel to, and would be a lot cheaper to rent/buy property - and all those expensive central London buildings could be sold off...

My feelings about being in a hearing again are very mixed - under a nurse's duty of care we are obliged to do all that we can to support and care our patients. However, do wonder how many times we have nurses being put into difficult positions by non clinical managers. I think that if we as clinicians are bound by a code of professional conduct, it seems remiss to me that our managers are not governed by the same policy.

So, I am sitting in an office in London, waiting to give evidence... I will update on my thoughts after I have given evidence

First Day at School

So, little man no longer goes to nursery - he is now at Loddon Infants School

Here he is looking very smart though keen eyes will have noticed that the little toad has already scuffed the toes of his new shoes...
And what did Michael do as soon as we got to school?

Straight to the pirate ship!

Flag flying so it's onwards for michael's educational adventure!!

Raveningham fair

Bright sunshine on an English summers day - so off we set to see what was happening at raveningham fair.

It was nice to see the Harley owners club had made the effort - they were even showing off the latest model:

Now what would a small boy like for lunch? A small boy sized hot dog?

That's a hotdog the size of a small boy btw!!

And for afters

Ice cream - some just had to be worn

Daddy checked out a special present for Oren Souter:

Any way - a fun day for all

Now where is the Top Gear Piano??

At caister castle

Taken Michael to see the classic cars and castle - he remains fascinated by any type of engine.

After he let rip an especially nasty bottom burp - I asked him if he wanted a poo "no daddy I am not doing the poo dance..."

Mallory Park 1000 bikes photos

Well I finally got to ride at mallory park

I was slow and comfortable - but really enjoyed it

This does not show me leading - it shows me about to be over taken - the red falco behind me is Coggers - a lot quicker than me.

Actually...

I know the little toad is clever, but he is now rationalising arguments - collected him from nursery this evening and told him not to jump in puddles...

"actually mummy said I can jump in puddles after nursery... Actually...."

I was speechless

Today Michael went to see a proper castle - and loved it!

No fear of heights he went all over the battlements - and loved looking down the well

Another present

Granny and grand dad gave Michael his very own pikey set - a truck that can just pick up a car and take it away.....

Birthday boy

So at 0545 - the 0 is short for "oh my god it's early" - I awoke to the sound of small boy carrying a truck down stairs...
( I use the term carrying loosely!)

Anyway a very lucky boy spent a while ripping things open - and thanks to all around the world who remembered our little monster

iPhone blogging

Should I be surprised at how easy things are on the iPhone? Bloody sight easier than assembling a tractor

Baffled by technology

Well... I have a set of Spanners, and have worked on ( and broken) many an engine... But assembling a soon to be four year olds tractor was bloody hard!

The give away was the box - made in Germany.
Obviously der faterland is still trying to screw over the poor old tommy - I imagine a crack team of peenemund's finest worked on this conundrum for months.....

Revamp time

So, looks like iWeb is going to vanish.... Along with MobileMe .... The iCloud may work but in the mean time - what to do?

As if by magic Mac Format this month gave away RapidWeaver 4 - so time to make a change and to get back to doing some regular blogs etc.

So - be warned - it's update time :)

Oh - I invested in some new software for the iPad/iPhone to help with the blogging - and I think it should update Facebook and possibly even twitter as well
