New House

Introducing.....

Billy and Fizz, our new felines! These two, thanks to a lovely lady
called jan, came to us a week or so ago. As you can see they are
setting in well and have started sleeping where ever they fancy.
Michael already seems to love them, and even though they are not his
beloved GabGab they do get a lot of michael "huddles" - a cross
between a hug and a cuddle

Road trip

Off to the club aprilia national meet!

As some are aware we lost our lovely Balinese Princess earlier this week - and I still have a lump in my throat as I type this.

She came to us as a resuce cat - just in need of a home. I think she must have thought she had died and gone to Cat heaven - she had her own willing two legged slaves, and all the adoration a princess could want.

With michael she was amazing - as we approached Michaels birth we were buying cat nets and getting a little nervous - as i guess all folks must do in similar situations. We need not have worried as she not only tolerated michael, but loved him - he was reguarly checked on by her, and she often chose to cuddle up with him.
He also spent a lot of time with her - indeed "GabGab" was one of his first phrases and he always looked for her for a feline cuddle everyday.

So far he does not seem to have missed her, though he does look around for her to play with.

We really do miss her - she always slept on Val's pillow and now the house seems empty.

She really is in cat heaven now, and I guess we should be thankful for the time we shared with her - i hope she was as happy with us as we were with her

Lessons from our surroundings

Recently I have been involved in a little verbal spat on an internet forum - nothing new about that but it did make me stop and think about ways of making Michael be aware of people, history etc.
The thead is at http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166873 and it is at page 3 that things kick off . What surprised me was the intentional racist slurs laid out by the bigot. Not based on colour per se but on culture and history , in this case my own culture and history . This culture and history will also be Michaels, so how do I ensure that he developes the same love as I do but also has respect for other people's as well.
A hard one, but perhaps by openess and encouraging him to explore other people's cultures and beliefs and most importantly by teaching him respect we may get somewhere.

Just perhaps being English is about being open and fair minded - I certainly hope so.

Feeding time

I am not going to say that Michael is head strong, but let's just say he in touch with his feminine side! Lunch time today was just such an occassion - somebody wa going to feed themselves and that was that.
And even though we have a long way to go on the table manners, our little man is growing up.
He is 18 months old today and it is hard to remember life before him.
Funnily enough the cat says she can remember being numero uno and ...

Rave on

Just had to share. Have just spent a few hours setting up the surround sound in our lounge, and that is not easy with daddy's little helper I can tell you!

Any how all done and time to test it. Popped the new Faithless live DVD on and sat back to enjoy a little dance music. And then Insomia came on.

Was not surprised that Michael started to move with the best - what annoyed me was that he is already a better dancer than me!

Fun times and next we will try Him with some Prodigy...
